The Kuvasz is originated from Tibet and it is a very intelligent dog known for his determination and hard work. It is the type of dog who like to work alone adding also the ability to make decisions on its own. It is so dedicated to its family that it will even sacrifice itself for them. It is very protective when it comes to children. This breed is not a very big fan of strangers so make sure you start socializing it from an early age. This will help but even if it gets to know some people it will still be suspicious until it is convinced that they do not present a threat to its loved ones.
The Kuvasz is a large and muscular dog with a very balanced mind. The females weigh between 70 and 90 pounds and are between 26 to 28 inches at the withers while males are in weight between 110 and 115 pounds and have 28 to 30 inches at the withers. This dog does not look fragile even though it has a medium size structure.
The prettiest part of the Kuvasz‘s body is the head. From the tip of the nose to the occiput the distance should be under the height of the dog. The eyes are far apart , brown and have the shape of an almond. The ears are V shaped and are rounded at the tips. The skin inside of the mouth and nose is black.
The muscles of the shoulders are longer and higher than the ones situated on the back. The legs are medium in length and are muscled. Their feet are padded and and look like the feet of a cat. The feet from the back however are longer than the ones in the front, they are also padded and look like the ones of a cat. The tail is medium in length and when it rises it makes a curve at the tip.
As far as fur is concerned it is short on the head, ears, face and paws and it is coarse on the rest of the body. At the neck the Kuvasz has a ruff which goes down and covers the chest. This type of breed looses a lot of fur during the summer. The tail and the rear tights have hair which reaches up to 6 inches long. The color of the fur is white and the skin can be Grey or black.
